This woodcut print was a challenge, but I feel it's successful. The flowers were challenging to paint because the detail is very fine. I decided to keep with the traditional botanical illustration technique without a background. This is a large print, about 16 x 18 inches. This orchid is Phalaenopsis Fuller's Mask, "Smile".

Making Art- White line woodcuts and textiles
Just coming up for air for a moment to share photos of new work. I'm splitting my week roughly between printmaking and textiles. Here's the latest!
I'm still noodling around with this woodblock. I like the first version of it, but I'm not sure I'm finished with it yet. Biggest one I've done so far, 18 x 24 inches. Took a good long while to finish!
Here are a few textile designs I've been working on:
This cape was made from scraps of wool from another garment I made. The large leaf buttons are brass and bakelite with a leaf and were my mothers, from the 40's or 50's.
This is a version of my Garden Walk Shawl Design, I made it for my mom for Christmas. The yarn color is called "Red Hot Mama", it's so much her color!
This is a vest and skirt which produced the scraps for the cape above. The wool is needle felted, and the trim is something I purchased in Manhattan a long time ago from a favorite trim shop.
